For Dad

Model Lady

I think it’s time to start writing again.

My Dad, who was 66, passed away May 30th, 2009. He is a huge inspiration for me and always will be. Hell, he’s the reason I’m so passionate about all things art and design. That, then, led to our all-things Apple obsession. Not to mention the endless discussions after every keynote about how Steve Jobs has “done it again!”. Aside from that, he was what he referred to as “an endless vault of useless information”. I’m the kind of person who’s chock full of questions, and till the day he died, there wasn’t one thing that I asked him about that he either didn’t have the answer to or at least have an extraordinarily close idea as to what the answer might be.

Above is a photo of Dad’s sculpture ‘Model Lady’. It was inspired by my mother and me at the time, 1981. My birth year. I’m abstractly represented by the ‘U’ shape in the front, which is me waiting to be born. And, incidentally, my last post here was on Dad’s birthday.

Now, I’m by no means a religious person, but my guess is, wherever Dad is at he’s got the internet, his favorite Mac and a cup of coffee, reading my writing.

I love and miss you terribly, Pop.
