I’m moving to San Francisco

Monday, April 28, 2008 @ 7:13 pm

Last week I mentioned that I had some big news to announce next Monday. Well, next Monday is today and as the headline suggests, I’m moving to San Francisco. I’ve been thinking about this for a while now and finally decided it’s the right decision for me. It was finally announced today at work which is why I waited until now to say anything. It’s nice to finally talk freely about it!

I’ve started getting things lined up in terms of my portfolio, resume, cover letter, and letters of recommendation etc. and hope to start sending that to San Francisco by the middle to the end of this week. I’m extremely excited about what may come. However, it’s going to be hard leaving the place I’ve called home for 26 years. Not to mention my friends and the best bunch of co-workers you could ask for. But, I think it’s time.

This is hopefully one of many reasons for the name of this blog.

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

Last night Amanda and I swung by the convention center to see her friend compete in a RollerGirls bout–a first for both of us. When we got there it was like stepping into a different world. RollerGirls everywhere and the fans to match.

It was good seeing you again Mampa!

Widget

I was showing Dan (Dan the Man) my new Flip cam and decide to post the fruits of that labor. Mainly because Widget’s in it. Widget, for those of you who don’t know, is not only Brian’s dog but also one of the coolest dogs at work.

Headin’ home

Sunday, April 20, 2008 @ 8:52 pm

I was up this morning and ready by 6:30. Ick. Jenny needed to be at to the airport by 7 for her 9:00 flight. My flight was only a couple hours later. I finally landed in Minneapolis around 2:30. I couldn’t have asked for a better first trip. Everything just seemed to fall in to place. I wish I was still on vacation. But, it is good to be back. My first dose of home came in the form of doing laundry and getting groceries. Next stop bed.

I had a lot of “firsts” on this trip and now all I can think of is what better time than now to lather, rinse, and repeat.

Thanks Paul for coming up. Thanks to Carrie for your hospitality. Thanks Jenny for flying in. All of you and, of course, Cooper really made this a great trip.

The perfect ending

Sunday, April 20, 2008 @ 8:39 pm

My final destination for my trip was Paul and Carrie’s place. It was great to finally see Carrie again and to pre-meet their son. (due in August!) Their new house really nice and the sunsets aren’t bad either. Cooper, their pug, was a ton of fun. The only problem was him blowing my cover when I tried to pack him for my trip back.

That night we (read: Paul) grilled out. This was followed by a few games of Catch Phrase and some of Paul’s tasty home brew. It was the perfect way to end the trip, hanging out and catching up with good friends.

Update: Here’s the now infamous Cooper. I couldn’t get enough of him.

Cooper, if you’re reading this, thanks for all the kisses and ear cleanings.

Downtown Denver

Sunday, April 20, 2008 @ 8:31 pm

As our last stop before stopping by Paul’s for some Grilln’, we swung by Denver’s downtown. Albeit windy at times, we couldn’t have picked a better day to wonder around. It was in the sixties and I was once again sporting a t-shirt, shorts, and sandals.

It’s a really neat downtown area. The main strip is full of shops with places to get some eats and or drinks. There’s also a neat mall-like area of down town. The best way I can think of describing it would be Southdale Mall sans roof. It even has escalators.

The highlight for me was the percussion band complete with cow bell. Let’s just say I had a fever and the only cure was more cow bell.

Update: Here’s a clip form the mall area of downtown Denver.

P.s. Paul mentioned that this area is open year round which I thought was pretty neat.
